July is basically one long festival and we are not complaining. Brand new on the scene, <a href="https://www.halofestival.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Halo Festival</a> lands at Ipswich Trinity Park on Sat 4 Jul with Two Door Cinema Club, The Vaccines, Natasha Bedingfield, Scouting For Girls and Sweet Female Attitude – full-throttle anthem energy from the first chord. The very same day, <a href="https://www.ipswichentertains.co.uk/ipswichmusicday/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Christchurch Park</a> in Ipswich hosts the largest free single-day music festival in the country. Two festivals, one city, one day. Ipswich, you&#8217;re showing off.

For folk purists, <a href="https://elyfolkfestival.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Ely Folk Festival</a> celebrates its 40th year from Thu 10 &#8211; Sat 12 Jul – bijou, brilliant and very much worth the trip. Then the big one: <a href="https://www.latitudefestival.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Latitude</a> returns to Suffolk from Thu 23 &#8211; Sun 26 Jul with Lewis Capaldi, Self Esteem, Teddy Swims, plus Sara Pascoe headlining comedy. Twenty years in and it&#8217;s never looked better.

For something altogether more civilised, the <a href="https://cambridgesummermusic.com" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Cambridge Summer Music</a> series runs Tue 1 &#8211; Wed 29 Jul with over 20 classical productions in stunning locations including Ely Cathedral and the Botanical Gardens. And rounding out the month, MOBO and Brit Award winner Laura Mvula performs at <a href="https://www.brittenpearsarts.org/events/laura-mvula" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Summer at Snape</a> on Thu 31 Jul. End of July, sorted.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-theatre">THEATRE</h2>

July is absolutely dripping with alfresco theatre and we are here for every last dramatic moment. <a href="https://www.thoringtontheatre.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Thorington Theatre</a> brings the West End to the woods this summer with performances of Northanger Abbey and Krapp&#8217;s Last Tape – the latter directed by Academy Award nominee Stockard Channing and starring David Westhead. Atmospheric doesn&#8217;t even begin to cover it.



Shakespeare fans, this one&#8217;s for you. The <a href="https://cambridgeshakespeare.com" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Cambridge Shakespeare Festival</a> runs for seven glorious weeks from Sun 13 Jul, with the Bard&#8217;s most beloved plays performed in the idyllic settings of Cambridge&#8217;s college gardens. Pack a picnic, pour something cold and let the drama do the rest. In a similar vein, Romeo and Juliet comes to the stunning Cedar Lawn at <a href="https://www.kentwell.co.uk/theatre" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Kentwell Hall</a> on Thu 17 Jul – top-class Shakespeare under the evening sky, bring a blanket and prepare to swoon.



Rounding out the month, Pantaloons Theatre Company&#8217;s <a href="https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/visit/cambridgeshire/wimpole-estate/events/20dc5285-ffad-4d91-9502-859e813de6b0" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Twelfth Night</a> arrives at the beautiful Wimpole Estate on Thu 31 Jul as part of their Sunset Series. Malvolio, mistaken identity and a magical summer evening – honestly, what more could you want?



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-comedy">COMEDY</h2>

July is bringing the big guns. <a href="https://www.cambridgecomedygarden.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Cambridge Comedy Garden</a> pitches up on Parker&#8217;s Piece from 8 – 12 Jul with Sara Pascoe, Chris McCausland, Bridget Christie, Jack Dee and Kyla Cobbler all under one Big Top. Basically the crème de la crème of the UK comedy circuit in one gloriously grassy setting – grab tickets before someone else does.



Later in the month, the <a href="https://ipswichtheatres.co.uk/whats-on/the-anglia-comedy-allstars-july-2026/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Anglia Comedy Allstars</a> return to Ipswich Corn Exchange on Fri 24 Jul with Russell Kane and Darren Harriot delivering belly laughs in abundance. It always sells out, so don&#8217;t say we didn&#8217;t warn you.

Grab a blanket and dust off the picnic basket – outdoor cinema season is here. <a href="https://www.helmingham.com/events/adventure-cinema/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Adventure Cinema</a> rolls into the stunning grounds of Helmingham Hall from 3 – Sat 5 with a handpicked line-up of classics, musicals and blockbusters including Dirty Dancing, Mamma Mia and Pride &amp; Prejudice.



Then on 9 Jul, <a href="https://fixr.co/event/grease-at-wyken-vineyard-9th-july-bury-st-edmunds-tickets-85653729" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Wyken Vineyard</a> is screening Grease in a meadow next to the gardens – your ticket includes a pre-film stroll through the gardens with a cocktail or glass of Wyken&#8217;s acclaimed sparkling wine in hand.

July is serving. <a href="https://www.shelfordfestival.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Shelford Feast</a> runs 3 – 11 Jul in Great Shelford – a whole week of beer festivals, dance nights, food and fun with Trevor Nelson and Pixie Lott thrown in for good measure. On 5 Jul, Stowmarket&#8217;s annual <a href="https://stowmarkettowncouncil.gov.uk/events/stowmarket-food-drink-festival-4/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Food and Drink Festival</a> delivers the full spread – produce stalls, street food, pop-up bars and vegan doughnuts.

Kick off the month at <a href="https://www.thesuffolkcoast.co.uk/things-to-do/events/wellness-weekend" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Three Rivers Pitch &amp; Paddle</a> for a Wellness Weekend from 3 – 5 Jul – yoga, mindful movement and peaceful waterside moments in a beautiful natural setting.



On 10 Jul, PAUS in Cambridge hosts <a href="https://www.paus.life/event-page?event_id=907&amp;item_id=549" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">A Seasonal Reset: Ground to Grow</a> – a gentle, restorative retreat designed to ease you into summer and back to yourself. The first in a series of four seasonal retreats, and exactly the kind of thing you didn&#8217;t know you needed until right now.



And for something completely free, <a href="https://nenepark.org.uk/event/rise-shine-yoga/2026-07-26/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Rise &amp; Shine</a> movement classes take place on 26 Jul from 9am – 10am at Roman Point in Ferry Meadows, overlooking Overton Lake.
