Hi, I’m Alex, and I’m the editor of Muddy Cambs and Suffolk, taking the reins whilst the lovely Hollie is off on maternity leave. I am excited to be able to bring you all that is bright and brilliant about Cambridgeshire and Suffolk.
My family and I moved to Cambridgeshire 15 years ago from Brixton. We loved London life and eating out was basically our hobby, but with my second child on the way, we decided to make a change and have never looked back. Cambridge (where we live) is such a green city with cows wandering across the fens and the picturesque colleges and there’s been an explosion of independent restaurants, street food, bars, events and festivals throughout the region that it makes a lovely place to live. When I’m not working, I love nothing more than spending holidays and weekends on the Suffolk coast, an area overflowing with wonderful food, gorgeous walks, and quirky shops and markets.
I’ve worked in media and PR for most my working life, including writing for magazines and creating localmradio shows, plus running my own club night for parents – the Early Night Club – where we party hard but are also in bed by midnight so we can make the school run (I know, hardcore). Life has in many ways beome so much more interesting since leaving London, and I can’t wait to bring you my take on the counties I love.
This is the Muddy Mantra, so you know what to expect from the site:
- I try everything out myself so that you can fully trust my opinions. On the occasions that I haven’t been somewhere myself, I let you know that’s the case.
- Muddy Stilettos is a commercial site and accepts advertising and payment to feature products and brands. However, I believe passionately in only working with brands that share my ethos and are relevant to my readers. I retain editorial control and independence at all times.
- I accept tickets to free shows, festivals, restaurants, events etc. with the purpose of reviewing or publicising them on Muddy Stilettos, as I’m sure you appreciate it’s pretty expensive zipping around trying stuff out all the time. Hotels, restaurants, cafés, bars – if you want me to try you out, please get in touch at: email@example.com or via Twitter @muddysuffcambs.
- I’ll never write a nasty review. I’m not into trashing people, brands or companies. But if you’re not good enough, I won’t write about you in Muddy Stilettos, regardless of whether I have paid for the experience or not. This gives me the editorial control I need and the trust that my readers demand.
I hope you love the site. Please sign up for my weekly free posts delivered to your inbox about all the cool bits happening in your county.
