What do you need when you&#8217;re planning a family weekend away across the county? A luxury, all-singing, all-dancing SUV, that’s what. And that’s exactly what I got when I whisked my brood off to the fabulous <a href="https://suffolkcambs.muddystilettos.co.uk/little-black-book/directory/ickworth-hotel-suffolk/">Ickworth Hotel</a> in Bury St Edmunds in the futuristic and rather fabulous Omoda 9.

If you&#8217;re like me and pack as if you&#8217;re off for a two-week holiday, don’t panic. The Omoda 9 comes with 660 litres of boot capacity, plus clever cubbies and storage spots throughout the car. My favourite? A secret handbag compartment up front so I didn’t have to sling it awkwardly on the back seat. Yes, please!

You can’t miss the Omoda 9, literally. It’s a bit of a beast, but in the best possible way. With sleek lines, eye-catching branding and a commanding presence, it turns heads. This SUV is built for space, comfort, performance and tech, and you get the full spec as standard.

Range anxiety? Forget it. The super hybrid system offers over 700 miles of combined range, including 93 miles of EV-only driving. And if you do run out of juice, the car seamlessly switches to petrol, so no drama. One whispered insider stat I loved? A round trip from Ipswich to Norwich with zero petrol usage. Now that’s impressive.

As a shorty (I&#8217;m 5,3) in a big SUV, I had my doubts. But the camera and sensor system blew me away — you get a full 360-degree view, including what’s beside and behind you, plus blind spot alerts and even a warning when someone’s overtaking. Total peace of mind.

The HUD (Heads-Up Display) keeps your eyes on the road with key safety and navigation info, and Automated Parking Assist means this SUV can park itself. Yes, really.

Add in wireless Android Auto &amp; Apple CarPlay, in-car charging points, and a whopping 25.6” of screen, and you’ve got all the connectivity you could ask for. Oh, and headrest speakers, so you can play your fave playlist without disturbing sleeping toddlers in the back.

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-l-ittle-extras">LITTLE EXTRAS</h3>



This car is packed with thoughtful extras. Flush door handles improve aerodynamics and give it a clean, futuristic look. The seats remember your perfect position, which feels like a small miracle when you&#8217;re juggling bags, snacks, and small children. And the 1.3m sunroof? Adds a whole extra level of luxe that brings the outside in. If I was a passenger, I&#8217;d be cloud gazing the entire journey.

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-muddy-verdict">THE MUDDY VERDICT</h3>



Good for: A smooth, refined drive that is surprisingly easy to manage despite its size. Plus, family staycations, where you can bring everything you need.



Not for: Heavy-footed drivers. It’s powerful. Like… really powerful. I caught myself accidentally creeping past the speed limit more than once, so a light foot is key! It does 0-62MPH in under five seconds, and I can believe it! There&#8217;s also a sports mode (rumour has it, this car is faster than a Ferrari), but I stuck with eco mode for our family adventure.



The damage:&nbsp;This is incredible value at £44,990 – there&#8217;s so much tech, safety and little extras crammed into this car, you&#8217;d be looking at something double the price, elsewhere.
