<p>During filming of&nbsp;<em>The Battle of Britain</em>&nbsp;(1969), a hangar at RAF Duxford was actually blown up on purpose to simulate a Luftwaffe bombing raid. They detonated one of the original First World War-era hangars (or part of it) to make the film more authentic.</p>

<p>Duxford nails that countryside-meets-commuter sweet spot. It’s handily located near the M11, making drives to Cambridge, Stansted, or even London (less than 50 miles away) totally doable.
