The good news? Suffolk and Cambridgeshire are absolutely bursting with brilliant things to do this month that won&#8217;t leave you wincing at your banking app the next morning. We&#8217;ve rounded up five of our favourite events – from street food festivals and waterfront dinners, to cocktail masterclasses and flower-filled evenings with a legend – all coming in at £50 or under. Life&#8217;s too short to stay home, but too expensive not to be savvy about it.</p>

<p>A gorgeous evening out that ticks every box: great food, a beautiful setting and a price tag that won&#8217;t make your eyes water. Ceramic artist Frankie throws open her stunning Hadleigh studio for a <a href="https://frankies.studio/products/supper-club-with-waste-not-rowen" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">supper club</a> hosted by Michelin-trained chef <a href="https://www.instagram.com/wastenotrowen/?hl=en" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Rowen Halstead</a>, and the menu is the kind of sharing feast that has the whole table leaning in. Think slow-braised pork belly, Suffolk new potatoes and grilled leeks: simple, seasonal and seriously good. A feasting-style menu designed for lingering over, this is exactly the kind of Saturday night we live for. Doors open at 6:30 for a 7pm start – book your spot before someone else snaps it up.</p>

On selected evenings during Cambridge Food &amp; Drink Week <strong>(9-17 May)</strong>, the gorgeous Novi in Cambridge is hosting a low-cost Craft &amp; Cocktail Evening courtesy of <a href="https://elle-eventsmgmt.com/whats-on/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Elle-Events</a>, and it has a very good evening written all over it. For just £25 you get a drink on arrival, nibbles to keep you going, a cocktail masterclass and a guided crafting session. No artistic ability required, just a willingness to have a good time. Whether you&#8217;re a secret creative or haven&#8217;t picked up a brush since primary school, this one&#8217;s all about unwinding, laughing with friends and making something you&#8217;ll actually be proud of.</p>

On <strong>23 April</strong> at 6pm, the legendary Sarah Raven – teacher, broadcaster and the woman behind one of the most beloved plant nurseries in the country – is coming to Cambridge to share her secrets for growing and arranging beautiful blooms all year round. This is the kind of talk that sends you home buzzing with ideas and a very long shopping list. And it only costs £17 – bargain!</p>

<p>Mark the first Friday of every month in your diary right now, because <a href="https://www.beachstreetfelixstowe.co.uk/events/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Beach Street Felixstowe</a> is fast becoming the best place to kick off your weekend on the Suffolk coast.
