Into London – Mormons, Chinatown And Travel Bags!

Chinatown London

Head Ed rather cleverly lost her sheep and made a break for the smoke last week. If you’re thinking of planning a naughty night away then check out the great value hotel that they stayed in just minutes from Chinatown. There’s a theatre recommendation if you’re in need of a great belly laugh and if you wondered what Head Ed looks like you can watch her showing off her rather impressive packing skills using her new Mary Poppins bag.

Over to Head Ed…

I escaped into London last weekend – left my three children to fend for themselves (social services: this is a JOKE!) – and had a whale of a time with Mr Muddy. A couple of things to tell you. Firstly, if you’re looking for a good value place to rest your head in the smoke, the Z Hotel is almost indecently placed in the centre of things in Soho, one minute from Chinatown, a hop and a skip from Covent Garden and bang in the middle of all the fun. Think a trendy Travelodge for singles or close couples. It cost us £159 to stay there for the night and I’d book again in a flash – it was the least expensive option we could find because we knew we were only going to be resting our heads briefly, though actually there was a decent bar and breakfast to be had, and the styling was pretty funky…

Z Hotels London

… though bear in mind that a) being so central it’s noisy, not that I cared a jot but you might and b) the shower and loo area is opaquely glassed rather than walled so if you don’t like seeing the broad outline of your other half going about their business it might not be for you!
Onto the reason why we were in London – the The Book of Mormon.

The Book of Mormon, London

Yeah, yeah, I know, it’s been around for ages and I’m ashamed it’s taken me this long to see it but OMG, it was one of the funniest shows I’ve seen in years. Totally outrageous and taking a pop at religion, racism, and everything in between – we were guffawing all the way through and the theatre was totally packed out. If you’re not easily offended, I’d totally recommend it, it was the best money I’ve spent on a musical in a long time.
Finally, I roadtested my new leather KeriKit bag overnighter into the smoke – I’m a bit in love with it, truth be told, and it holds more than the average overnighter I reckon, so I’ve done a quick vlog to show you. QVC has nothing on me! Would make an awesome Mother’s Day present if you want to drop some hints to your significant other/children.

One last thing. If you haven’t been away for a while, DO IT! It’s too easy to just get up, work, sleep, repeat but it’s amazing how rejuvenating even one night out of routine makes you feel. Let me know where you go and what you see, and most importantly whether it’s worth recommending on Muddy!
