The Muddy Awards drinks 2022 – meet your winners!

The best bit of the Muddy Awards - getting sozzled at the after-party! Have a look at what we got up to and, if you're a brilliant local company, make it your business to join us for 2023!

Another summer, another clutch of amazing local businesses to celebrate! Last week saw our Muddy Awards’ Winner’s Drinks 2022 close this year’s awards officially, and it was awesome to meet so many inspirational Suffolk & Cambs businesses, and hopefully help them on their way to even bigger things.

The competition was incredible this year. Are you ready for this? A whopping 75,000 businesses entered and 865,000 votes were cast across the Muddy counties. That included nearly 3,000 Suffolk & Cambs nominees and 25,000 votes in our local finals alone! Phew! So, to win a Muddy Award (and one that’s entirely based on the public vote at that!) is definitely something to shout from the rooftops.

Naturally, it was time to raise a glass (or several) to the BEST indie businesses in Suffolk and Cambs 2022, as voted by YOU, at our annual Muddy Awards drinks.

This year, for the first time, the Awards were sponsored nationally by the brilliant Healthily, the award-winning wellbeing app; and we were also thrilled to have a local sponsor The Marina Theatre Lowestoft, a fabulous theatre by the sea. Check out their upcoming shows here.

Want to see everyone in their glad rags? Meet some of your worthy winners below, all photographed by the fabulously talented Emma from Emma Shaw Photography

The gorgeous grounds and marquee at Willow Grange Farm

We had every type of weather possible at our Muddy Awards drinks – rain, extreme heat, an incredible sunset and even a double rainbow, and our glorious venue the rustic chic Willow Grange Farm, in Chittering near Ely looked stunning throughout. With its pretty marquee space and huge grounds surrounded by farmland, Willow Grange is a wonderful wedding or events venue and it worked perfectly for us with space to retreat from the rain as well as outside space to enjoy the warm evening.

The super stylish Beaufort Box bar served our drinks for the evening

We started the evening with glasses of bubbles provided by the super stylish The Beaufort Box, a chic horse box bar that looked perfect in the countryside setting. They also set up this amazing toasting tower, which would be perfect at a wedding don’t you think? There was almost a stampede to it when I told everyone to grab a drink for the toast!

While we all mingled and had a good old chinwag we were serenaded by incredible live music from strolling band The Snapchaps who certainly brought the fun to the proceedings and created a wonderfully celebratory atmosphere.

We then revealed a stunning grazing table from Glam Grazing by Gem. The spread looked almost too good to eat, but we didn’t hold back and it really did taste as good as it looked, a real culinary treat!

Too good to eat? Not a chance! This stylish spread was demolished ten minutes later.
Tuck in!

We were also lucky enough to have the brilliant Charley on hand from A2D Styling who made the venue look even prettier and put together the very instagrammable backdrop for our awards photos, with a stunning dried floral arrangement from Nici’s Creations.

I did a little speech and then along with Muddy’s Commercial Manager Fran presented the certificates in the marquee while the drinks and conversation flowed.

Muddy Editor Hollie and Commercial Manager Fran. Think we may have had one too many proseccos by this point!

Fab local photographer, Emma Shaw snapped away throughout and everyone took home a lovely goody bag filled with treats from The Ely Fudge Company, Fen Spirits, The Gainsborough Health Club & Spa and The Cunningham Candle Company.

After the awards presentation it was back to chatting, eating, taking selfies and drinking and cutting our fabulous cake made by the lovely Alison Bond from Bury St Edmunds.

After a couple of months of awards craziness, it was such a treat to meet all of the wonderful winners who have put their hearts and souls into their home-grown local businesses over the past year and beyond. To see the pride on everyone’s faces as they clutched their hard-earned and such-well-deserved certificates, was a joy and a privilege.
