The Cambridge Writing Retreat
A tranquil escape in a Cambridgeshire village
Set up in 2018 by poet and life coach (and former lawyer) Gaynor Clements, the writing retreat offers the perfect peaceful place for writers, artists, or anybody simply seeking some solace or me-time.
Located half an hour west of Cambridge, and just over an hour from London, the writing retreat is in the picturesque village of Elsworth, surrounded by luscious countryside, where you feel a million miles away from the city. The self-catering accommodation is in the grounds of Gaynor’s home, a stunning Georgian Farmhouse, with a lovely country garden, wandering chickens and surrounded by fields of sheep. There is plenty of space, and plenty of privacy so you can be left to your own devices. Equally, if you want writing feedback, or coaching on all aspects of life – Gaynor is on hand.
The Bothy is a self-contained cabin, with a double bed, hob, fridge, and ensuite shower and loo. The central heating will keep you nice and cosy, plus there is a private garden area (with seating) with a BBQ/firepit to use on summer evenings.
The Shepherd Hut is a tardis inside, with a raised double bed, a hob, sink, armchair, desk and chair, and an ensuite shower and loo. It’s warm and furnished with loving care -small touches like the tiny shelf next to the bed for your morning tea are simply perfect. Views of the sheep field are wonderful
Homemade bread, freshly laid eggs, bacon, sausages are provided for your breakfast and you can bring your own food for other meals or request some home-cooked suppers that can be delivered to your door for a small additional cost. This is real home from home comfort, in a truly tranquil location.
