Muddy says: One of the UK’s top sporting attractions, Newmarket Racecourses, Suffolk, is also home to Newmarket Nights – amazing music events and gigs – as well as family days out and events spaces.
How lucky are we to have Newmarket Racecourses (the July Course and The Rowley Mile) on our doorstep and an entire town dedicated to the wonderful sport of horse racing? Not many other counties can say they’ve got miles or perfectly manicured studs and the glorious spectacle of glossy race horses exercising on the heath each day.
It’s not just the exhilarating sport and beautiful horses that makes us so fortunate though, Newmarket Racecourses is so much more. It’s also home to The Jockey Club’s Newmarket Nights, world-class music events that you can enjoy after the racing, as part of a crowd that’s so much more intimate than any gig you’d pay for. Every year they bring ever more impressive acts out of the bag for us Cambridge and Suffolk folk to enjoy.
This year’s line-up includes:
Thriller Live: Friday 19 July
Rudimental DJ Set: 26 July
Pete Tong & The Heritage Orchestra: 2 August
Bananarama with special guest Heather Small: 9 August
Years & Years: 16 August
Keep an eye on our weekly what’s on guides for more information about each of these amazing musical events.
There are so many racing events to enjoy throughout the year too. With the famous July Festival and Ladies Day and the Guineas to name the most famous ones. Once summer is over, there’s still plenty of fun to be had with a warm coat on up until the final meeting in November, when the venue becomes home to a number of Christmas events.
