Johnsons of Old Hurst
Explore the heritage of Johnson’s of Old Hurst, a family farm dedicated to quality fresh meat and homegrown produce.

Johnsons of Old Hurst is not your average farm shop – and we mean that in the most brilliant way possible. A family farm for over a hundred years, this Cambridgeshire gem combines a seriously well-stocked butchery, deli, cheese counter, bakery and fruit and veg with something you won’t find anywhere else: exotic meats including ostrich, buffalo, crocodile and – yes, really – python. Farm to fork has never been quite so adventurous.
Speaking of crocodiles, meet Cuddles and Kisses. Andy’s beloved Nile crocodiles are one of the farm’s most unexpected delights, playing a genuine role in the farm’s sustainability model by disposing of butchery waste – while also starring in an ambitious conservation breeding programme supported by the country’s top experts. You truly couldn’t make it up.
Back on more familiar territory, there’s a café serving homemade cakes, an impressive Steak House for the most literal farm-to-fork experience imaginable, and a gift section stocked with everything from speciality gins and fizz to rainbow-dyed sheepskin rugs and cowhides at prices that won’t make you wince. Kids are very well catered for too – a play area, peacocks, deer, goats and safari trips make this an absolute winner for a birthday party with a difference.
Wholesome, wild and completely one of a kind. Johnsons of Old Hurst reminds you exactly why local, independent and utterly brilliant will always beat a supermarket run.
