The Ickworth Hotel is part of the Luxury Family Hotels group, which quite literally does what it says on the tin – luxury for all the family. You’ll find this heavenly haunt housed in the rather spectacular squandered ancestral home of the Hervey family (seriously read the history, it’s fascinating!), now owned by the National Trust. The hotel forms one wing of the sprawling Ickworth House, with its famous rotunda, and is surrounded by acres and acres of glorious parkland, so little ones can run free and soak up as much county air as they desire.

For the adults, there’s a splendid spa with treatment rooms in the lower ground of the house (so you can’t hear the kids – clever!), as well as the adults-only Frederick’s restaurant for fine-dining while the babysitter is on duty.

For kids, there’s the freedom of knowing it’s a family hotel, so they don’t constantly have to behave like little princesses and princes! The grand Ickworth corridors ring with the pitter patter of tiny feet and paws – dogs are more than welcome too! Little ones will love the Four Bears Den creche, swimming pool, extensive kids’ menus, rows of wellies by the front door, bikes to hire and magical fairy garden.

The best bit? Parents can come here and really put their feet up. There’s an amazing Sunday Breakfast Club, where kids are collected from your room and given breakfast and entertainment while you have a lie-in! There’s also a baby-monitoring system and plenty of creche staff and babysitters, so you can just sit back and read a book or enjoy a spa treatment in peace without sticky toddler fingers poking you non-stop. Oh and you don’t have to pack everything, but the kitchen sink. Baby and toddler equipment is plentiful.
