<p>Meet <strong><a href="https://www.instagram.com/wearecuratedby/?hl=en" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Jodie Lever</a></strong> – the powerhouse behind Suffolk’s holistic beauty salon Curated By, soft-age facialist, podcaster and now, founder of the new self-care skincare brand <strong><a href="https://www.instagram.com/weareloma/?hl=en" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">LOMA</a></strong>. Having spent her career jetting around the world teaching therapists, spa managers and resort owners the fine art of beauty in some of the globe’s most exclusive spas, Jodie’s now channelling all that expertise into redefining how we age – softer, smarter and entirely on our own terms.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-loma-is-such-a-beautiful-concept-what-inspired-the-idea">LOMA is such a beautiful concept — what inspired the idea?</h3>

<p>Working with women in my salon, I noticed a common thread — they wanted to care for themselves and their skin but often felt like they weren’t doing enough, or that they needed to buy more products to ‘get it right.’ Traditional beauty marketing can make us feel like we’re constantly falling short. Loma was born from a desire to quieten that noise and bring women back to what self-care truly is; something deeply personal, intuitive, and aligned with their own rhythm, not someone else’s routine.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-what-does-intentional-care-and-grounded-luxury-mean-to-you">What does intentional care and grounded luxury mean to you?</h3>



<p>For me, intentional care means choosing what genuinely serves you, rather than what you feel you <em>should</em> be doing. Grounded luxury is about simplicity done well — thoughtful textures, natural formulations, and sensory detail that create a moment of calm. A simplified ritual doesn’t mean it lacks depth or pleasure; it’s about purpose over excess.</p>

<p>They’re inspired by goddess archetypes, each embodying a distinct energy. Selene connects to lunar calm and introspection, Freya to sensual strength and vitality, and Eira to clarity and renewal. The idea was to honour the cyclical nature of being a woman — our phases, our shifts, our power in change.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-how-does-that-cyclical-nature-show-up-in-the-way-we-care-for-our-skin-and-ourselves">How does that cyclical nature show up in the way we care for our skin, and ourselves?</h3>



<p>Our energy naturally ebbs and flows throughout the month and across different life stages. When we acknowledge that, the way we care for ourselves can evolve to meet us where we are — not in a fixed routine, but a responsive rhythm. It’s about softening the need to keep up, and instead tuning into what our body and skin are asking for in that moment.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-how-do-you-hope-people-feel-after-using-loma">How do you hope people feel after using LOMA?</h3>



<p>More connected — to themselves, to their bodies, to the quiet within. I want them to feel the unravelling of pressure; the sense that they don’t need to perform or prove anything to feel good in their own skin.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-beauty-industry-is-a-demanding-world-how-have-you-navigated-burnout">The beauty industry is a demanding world! How have you navigated burnout?</h3>



<p>Honestly, with difficulty at times. I was recently diagnosed with autism, which has helped me understand why certain environments felt overwhelming. What’s helped is radical acceptance — connecting with my values and living in a way that feels right for me, not just what looks good from the outside. Purpose and peace feel far more sustainable than perfection.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-how-can-we-reconnect-with-self-care-as-something-restorative-rather-than-performative">How can we reconnect with self-care as something restorative rather than performative?</h3>



<p>If a ritual feels nourishing and aligns with who you are — rather than demanding more of you — that’s your compass. True care doesn’t ask you to sacrifice your peace or your joy; it simply brings you closer to yourself.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-what-small-rituals-do-you-turn-to-when-life-gets-full">What small rituals do you turn to when life gets full?</h3>

<p>Getting outside with my dogs — no multitasking, no podcasts, just presence. Nature resets everything for me. I also end each evening with gratitude; it helps me focus on what’s good, even on hard days. I’ve built gentle systems around the rituals that serve me, so they’re not another task on my list — they’re part of the rhythm of my day.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-what-does-soft-ageing-mean-to-you">What does soft ageing mean to you?</h3>



<p>To me, soft ageing is about embracing the privilege of growing older while caring for ourselves with intention and grace. It’s letting go of the pressure to chase youth, and instead focusing on vitality — supporting the skin and body so we look and feel our best at every age. It’s a far more compassionate, grounded way to approach beauty.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-how-can-we-work-with-our-skin-as-we-age-rather-than-trying-to-fight-or-fix-it">How can we work with our skin as we age, rather than trying to fight or fix it?</h3>



<p>By understanding what our skin and body need at each stage of life — nourishment, hydration, circulation, rest — and honouring that with consistency. Working with a therapist who understands the skin’s natural processes can help guide that, rather than following trends that promise transformation but overlook individuality.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-any-simple-self-care-tips-people-can-try-at-home">Any simple self-care tips people can try at home?</h3>



<p>Be intentional with massage. Take a few extra minutes during cleansing to really connect with the muscles beneath your fingertips — lift, glide, and work slowly. That mindful touch boosts blood and lymphatic flow, bringing oxygen and nutrients to the skin for that natural glow.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-you-train-other-therapists-in-suffolk-what-s-it-like-supporting-the-next-gen-of-beauty-specialists">You train other therapists in Suffolk – what’s it like supporting the next gen of beauty specialists?</h3>



<p>Actually, I train therapists all over the world, and it’s the greatest joy. This industry has given me everything, and being able to help others thrive within it is my purpose. Watching them find their confidence, develop their skill, and create success on their own terms is incredibly fulfilling.</p>

<p>Alignment. I look for therapists who are here for the right reasons — who want to deepen their craft because they’re passionate about it, not because it’s trending. Authenticity and integrity always stand out.</p>

Headspa at <a href="https://mellowsalon.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Mellow</a> in Long Melford is another beautiful experience. And honestly, nothing beats a coastal walk followed by coffee and a pastry from <a href="https://twomagpiesbakery.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Two Magpies Bakery</a>. Simple, grounding pleasures.</p>

<p>Whatever feels most connected for them. For me, it would be a slow coastal walk, breakfast or coffee by the sea, and space to just be — no agenda, no rushing. That’s what Loma is really about: finding your own rhythm in the stillness.</p>
