Gotta Have It: Pop royalty in Suffolk & Cambs

What's on our radar this summer? From the hottest gal in pop to the glammest, plus rock and club classic - we've got your summer fun nailed with these four gigs at Newmarket Races - just grab your tickets before they sell out

Talk about something to look forward to – a summer night out dancing in the open air with your best buds and pop royalty? We’ve nailed it… Queen of Pop is a title that Anne-Marie has more than earned with her five billion streams, five top 10 UK singles and collabs with Niall Horan, Sean Paul and Ed Sheeran. There’s no arguing with those creds.

So it’s pretty awesome that she’ll be gracing the stage at Newmarket Races this year (Fri 29 July – block out the diary NOW and nab those tickets) with her blend of pop, electro, R&B and hip hop. Expect hits like 2002 and FRIENDS and maybe even oldies like Speak Your Mind, her debut from waaaaay back in 2018.

Another one that’s sure to be massive is the ever glam (and never ageing) Paloma Faith (playing Newmarket on 17 June) who has rocked every look from a red-headed Debbie Harry to 50s housewife and absolutely nailed every one of them. Aside from the – doubtless – fabulous outfits there will be the usual top notch production and Paloma’s big hitters like Only Love Can Hurt Like This and newbies from her latest album, Infinite Things.

Joining these pop bunnies at Newmarket are Irish rock band The Script (15 July), with their not-too-shabby six billion streams, sold-out stadiums and new album, Tales from The Script. Expect acoustic takes and lots on on-stage larks.

And finally, need your hit of beach vibes and good times? Try Pete Tong & The Heritage Orchestra, above, performing Ibiza Classics (12 August) in epic style, from floor-filling club tracks to new takes on new releases, plus stunning visual effects, natch.
