Extra, extra! Here’s the latest goss on new spots to scoff and quaff, a super spa renovation, plus some festive events you’ll want to book.
Santé Stowmarket!
Oh la la, there’s a fancy new French-inspired coffee and wine bar in Stowmarket. Langams opened in Market Place on 1 Sept and is a collaboration between the original Langams Café and the Heart of Suffolk Distillery. The transformed business and will serve cocktails, spirits, beer, wine and grazing boards, with a new nighttime atmosphere and wine menu. The coffee shop will be open for coffee and sweet treats during the day.
Chelsea buns galore
Some lovely news from Cambridge’s favourite and most historic bakery… Fitzbillies is opening a new branch in the city on King’s Parade (where Noa Noa used to be), so no more queuing to get your hands on their legendary sticky Chelsea buns. Just down the road, the Trumpington Road branch is also being expanded into the next door shop.
Super spa in Suffolk
Aqua Sana at Center Parcs Elveden Forest has had a massive makeover – a multi-million pound makeover in fact, and the new stunning forest-inspired space will be opening on 29 Sept. You can indulge in 25 new wellness experiences, enjoy new facilities spread across six zones (inspired by the world’s most amazing natural environments), go on a journey through the seasons in the immersive Forest View, and get cosy as you enjoy panoramic woodland views inside The Nest.
That’s a wrap
Imagine the most delicious Chinese meal all contained within a super soft wrap that you can eat on the go. That’s what’s on offer at Wok Wraps, a new street food concept that launched earlier this summer and is now a staple at Bury St Edmunds Wednesday market. The delicious new offering comes from Jamie Burgis, manager at Top Garden Chinese Takeaway in Bury, who has used his cooking knowledge from working with top Singaporean and Malaysian chefs, to create Chinese fusion wraps that are seriously moreish and include options for veggies and vegans too.
This little piggy went to…
There’s a new café on the High Street in Fenstanton and we have a feeling we’re going to feel right at home there. Little Piggy Café is run by Charlie McLaughlin whose family owns a pig farm in Yorkshire, so the menu is full of things like homemade sausage rolls and something called The Piggy Pie (basically a super posh Cornish pastie). Don’t worry veggies and anyone with a sweet tooth there’s plenty for you too with cookies, cakes, and pastries made daily on site as well as Sunday lunches and pop-up supper clubs too.
Pretty in pink
A new café/ bar has opened in Bury this week called Nightjars and we’re rather taken with the pink branding, inspired by traditional Suffolk pink cottages. Nightjars has taken over the premises that used to be Karooze on St Andrew’s Street and has had a huge renovation revealing fun new interiors with neon lights and banquette seating. By day it’ll be a relaxed café-style bar and at night you’ll be able to enjoy live music and creative cocktails.
