Ickworth Hotel launches Supper Box

There’s still a little bit of lockdown left to get through and if you’re tearing your hair out every day wondering what on earth to cook next, help is at hand. The Ickworth Hotel have launched Supper Boxes – restaurant-quality food to delivered to your door, so you can enjoy some gourmet grub before Boris lets us loose on the county’s restaurants. Each box costs £35 and contains a main course for a family of four as well as an activity pack for the little ones. Each week there are two main courses to choose from and they go live on The Ickworth’s Facebook page and Instagram page every Friday. Bon appetit!

Suffolk SHAKE Festival Live

The Suffolk Shake Festival is going live this year and is streaming a star-studded performance of a Midsummer Night’s Dream for one night only on 31 March. The stars in question? Downton Abbey’s Dan Stevens and film star Rebecca Hall. Tickets are a tenner per household and you can buy them here.

New recycled clothes indie in Cambs

Picture: Keith Heppell

If we’ve learned one thing from 2020, it’s that we need to be better to our fragile world and treat it with more respect (can you tell I’ve been bingeing David Attenborough recently!). So any new indie that does just that is 100% worth supporting in our humble opinion. Be Retro UK is one such indie, a new recycled clothing business set up by a 19 year old in Cambridge’s Raft Mkt on Sidney Street. One to have on your radar as soon as shops repopen.

The Fin Boys fish butchery opens on Mill Road

Nothing fishy about this new Mill Road business. The Fin Boys is a new fish-based diner and outlet set up by Richard Stokes, former head chef at Hotel Felix and Madingley’s Three Horseshoes, and Jay Scrimshaw, founder of pop-up retailer Guerilla Kitchen. When lockdown is over you’ll be able to sit at the swanky bar and watch your dry-aged fish dish being prepared, and currently you can enjoy their fishy fare as a takeaway through Click It Local.

The Waffle Hut opens in Newmarket

Which delicious food are you going to be inhaling as soon as lockdown lifts? You’ll find me hotfooting it to Newmarket to scoff some of brand new The Waffle Hut’s delicious offerings. The Waffle Hut, based in the yard of The National Horseracing Museum, comes from The Bakery’s Stellar Catering, so you know you’re in good hands. Chef Ben Cockhill is whipping up all sorts of delights like The Mac Poppin and The Oreoooo. It’s currently a delivery and takeaway service from Thursday to Saturday, but plans for a sit-in restaurant are in the pipeline.

La Latina Bustaurante opens premises at Grafton Centre

One of the city’s favourite street food suppliers has opened a bricks and mortar premises in The Grafton Centre’s Food Social. The company, known for its delicious South American fare, have been serving from a cool bus for the last few years, but you can now enjoy a larger menu as well as all your old favourites from the comfort of their new digs. They’re currently offering takeaway and delivery through Foodstuff and Deliveroo.
