What you doing for New Year's Eve? One of these 12 awesome gatherings, that's what! From overnighters to pub parties, dinner destinations to bar crawlers, raise your glass to the new decade.

Can’t be bothered to have New Year’s Eve at yours this year? Here are 12 brilliant options in Suffolk & Cambs, from Stiletto-worthy events to dinner down your local gastropub – either way, you’re guaranteed a glass of fizz in hand at midnight and a sore head in the morning.

Flappers and gangsters night, Else May’s Electric Lounge, St Neots

Couldn’t get tickets for Ronnie Scott’s? No worries, we’ve found a fabulously jazzy way to ring in the new year – a flappers and gangsters night at Elsie May’s Electric Lounge in St Neots. Grab your pearls and feather boas and throw yourself into the golden age of jazz, enjoying a delicious menu and decadent drink before the clock strikes midnight.

NYE Party at Hidden Rooms Cocktail Lounge, Cambridge

new year

Want to see in the new year quaffing the best cocktails in town? Then direct your stilettos in the direction of HiddenRooms in Cambridge to join their all night party (well until 2am – that’s all night to me these days!). There’ll be DJs playing club classics and cocktails galore.
Silent Disco at The Waterman, Cambridge

Never been to a silent disco? Then you must try one before the end of this decade! The Waterman, a charming pub on Mitcham’s Corner, are hosting one on NYE this year and you can enjoy a three-course meal first and then take to the floor with three channels to choose from. The best bit? When you’ve had enough and want to chat with your fellow party goers, you can actually hear them! The safe option for party animals who haven’t quite got the stamina anymore.

Great Gatsby vs Peaky Blinders Party at Bohemia, St Neots

Are you a Great Gatsby fan or a Peaky Blinders? Show your true colours at this themed night at Bohemia St Neots. These guys really know how to put on a good party with fab food and cocktails – ring in 2020 in classic 20s style!

New Year’s Eve at Ravenwood Hall, near Bury St Edmunds

We’ve rung in a couple of New Years at this gorgeous country hotel and can vouch for that the fact that they throw a fabulous soirée. You’ll not be downing samba shots at midnight – this is a much more refined affair, with champagne and canapés on arrival, a gourmet six-course meal and finished off with a wow-factor fireworks display at midnight.

The Northgate New Year’s Eve party, Bury St Edmunds

This stylish hotel has had a revamp this year so there’s never been a better time to book in for a chic celebration. Their NYE offering includes a beautifully crafted five course menu from Head Chef Greig Young, festive cocktails and a bespoke fire show by performer Luke Harries! An NYE you’ll never forget. £99.

New Year’s Eve Knees Up at Jimmy’s Farm, Ipswich, Suffolk

Jimmy’s Farm without the kids! Yes, book a babysitter because it’s your turn to make the most of this fabulous local farm with a delicious two-course dinner followed by a DJ and a glass of prosecco to see in the new year! £49.95

A New Year Stay at The Swan in Lavenham

I can’t think of a cosier and more festive place to stay than Lavenham during the Christmas period so I’m very much hoping one day someone will treat me to their amazing New Year’s stay package. It includes: arrival on 30th with a three-course dinner; cream tea, a champagne and canapé reception with piper, and a five-course black tie gala followed by an evening of Swing music on New Year’s Eve: all finished off nicely with a guided walk on New Year’s Day. Now that’s how to do New Year! From £650.

New Year’s Eve in The Hangar, Kesgrave Hall, Suffolk

new year at kesgrave hall

Milsoms hotels in Suffolk have a whole host of awesome NYE nights planned, but our pick of the bunch has to be New Year’s Eve in The Hangar at Kesgrave Hall. This Muddy Editor has previously hosted a party here and it is a fabulously festive setting. The evening includes Champagne and canapés, a four-course black tie dinner, a DJ and live link to Big Ben for the countdown and virtual fireworks from the river Thames. Might we suggest booking a room too, so you can wobble across the drive into one of their luxe suites. £120.
