Blyth Rise Stays, Suffolk

This adults-only lakeside haven and woodland wonderland in Suffolk is full of design-led lodges that are perfect for guests who want peace, quiet and somewhere sustainable, yet luxe, to stay.

Want to get away from it all… your emails, endless to-do lists, light pollution and even the kids (hey, no judgement here!)? Then Blyth Rise Stays, an adults-only lakeside haven, with 12 beautiful self-catering lodges near Framlingham, is the place to book. Hidden away in 10 acres of stunning re-wilded farm land, this waterside wonderland is the perfect place for anyone looking to rest, reconnect with nature, and enjoy the great outdoors.

Choose between the six chic stylish waterside lodges that have two bedrooms and sleep up to four, or the six quirky cool Igluhuts, with their cosy and curvaceous interiors that would make for a romantic getaway. All are united by stunning interiors with colour pop soft furnishings, Scandi-style wooden walls, lovely local artwork and smart contemporary kitchens and bathrooms. If you like what you see, you can even buy some of the pieces to take home! All lodges have some outside space too, either a waterside terrace or woodland garden area, where you can recline next to a fire pit and gaze up at the crystal clear stars.

Blyth Rise Stays is a real family affair and passion project for the owners. Pam and Mark (mum and dad) are the nature experts and since 2008 have lovingly hand planted over 2,500 trees, shrubs, bushes as well as thousands of flowers, including wild flower mounds and over 4,000 daffodils (just imagine what an early spring stay looks like here!). Sisters Katie and Laura now run the business, with Katie also teaching the al fresco yoga sessions.

The family’s love of nature and the Suffolk countryside means not only are the surroundings absolutely stunning, but there’s a huge focus on sustainability. Everything is made from sustainably sourced wood, no single-use plastic is used or sold on site, they re-cycle all food waste, sell produce from their own vegetable and herb garden to guests, and the on-site honesty shop is piled high with the best of Suffolk’s local artisan producers (you can also pre-order breakfast hampers, fresh sourdough bread, and fruit/veg salad boxes from the local farm shop). And, for a real touch of country class, Blyth Rise Stays has recently partnered with Hunter Boots so you can pre-book boots in your size ready for your arrival!

There’s no WiFi in the lodges (but don’t panic, there’s plenty of phone signal if you get the urge to start scrolling), but when you’re in this rural idyll, a screen is the last thing you’ll desire. Instead you can visit the two beautiful iglu-saunas tucked into the woodland, enjoy some in-lodge (or on-terrace) spa treatments, join an outdoor yoga session, play the board games, visit the book swap, stargaze through the telescope, toast marshmallows on the fire pit, or cycle and walk the many easily accessible countryside footpaths. You get the idea… this really is the good life! If it all gets a bit quiet and wholesome for you though, you can walk to the village and visit the two pubs, or head out and explore the many tourist attractions and stunning seaside and market towns along the coast.
