Gin and relaxation? Oh, go on then! We headed to Riverhills Spa in Suffolk for their Gin Inspired Spa Day where they&#8217;ve partnered with Aldeburgh distillery Fishers Gin, and it was every bit as indulgent and quirky as it sounds. Whether you&#8217;re a spa aficionado or just looking to escape the chaos of life (read: those post-Christmas shopping bag-induced knots in your shoulders), this is the spot for serious unwinding with a side of gin-spiration.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-treatments">The Treatments</h2>

We kicked things off with a warming foot rub (because who doesn’t need some TLC for their tootsies?), followed by a dreamy back and shoulder massage. My therapist, Tia, worked wonders on my problem shoulder (thank you, festive shopping haul), while my guest was equally smitten with her massage from Fiona. Firm but relaxing, the massages were tailored to our preferences and smelled divine – the oils used had ingredients also found in gin. Citrus heaven!

Next up, facials. Cue super-soft, glowing skin! I was so relaxed I nearly drifted off (my guest insists she didn’t, but we all know she did). Post-facial, we were both wowed by our newfound radiance – me with my winter glow-up, and my guest with her usually dry skin looking plump and bright.

After the treatments, we ventured into the spa’s labyrinth of beautifully decorated rooms for a tea-making masterclass. Who knew gin-making and skincare shared so much in common? From seeds that lower blood pressure to natural ingredients that reduce acne (or boost your sex drive – hello!), we learned how these magical elements pull double duty in both your glass and your beauty routine. We even got to create our own tea bags to try later. Educational and fun, with plenty of giggles – a refreshing twist on your classic spa day.

A stop in the relaxation room was next, with comfy beds, fluffy blankets, and herbal tea (yes, I made it myself and yes, it was surprisingly delicious). Sipping my creation while cocooned in quiet bliss? Heaven.

The day ended on a high with a festive afternoon tea that was nothing short of spectacular. Turkey sandwiches, brie and cranberry, pigs in blankets – all the faves, plus warm scones, rich brownies, and gin-infused salmon sandwiches to tie it all together. Everything was fresh, plentiful, and so tasty we had to take leftovers home.

This wasn’t your run-of-the-mill spa day – it was fun, quirky, and oh-so-relaxing. The team at Riverhills are warm, knowledgeable, and brilliant at tailoring treatments to individual needs. With their new wet facilities set to reopen in spring, we can’t wait to return for round two.
