It’s that time of year to dig out the decorations. So make a space in the corner of your living room, unearth the tinsel in the loft and make a three-hour window in your diary to untangle your fairy lights. Christmas trees are a-coming! And if only the real version will do, then here are the best Christmas tree farms and shops to pick your perfect pine, spruce or fir in Cambs and Suffolk.

<a href="https://www.cambridgechristmastrees.co.uk">The Cambridge Christmas Tree Company</a>, Burwash Manor, Barton



As the name suggests this company specialises in Christmas trees and has been selling Nordmann Fir trees in our area for more than 35 years.&nbsp;They&#8217;re based at Burwash Manor throughout December, and a trip here can make for a fabulously festive day with a mooch around the shops (The Secret Garden sells gorgeous decorations for your new tree) and a hot choc in Flock Cafe. This company knows everything possible about winter spruces so can help you choose the perfect tree for your house. From £40+ and deliveries within a 10-mile radius. 



<a href="https://rectoryfarmshop.co.uk">The Rectory Farm Shop</a>, Milton



Rectory Farm in Milton also stock Nordmann Firs (apparently they&#8217;re the superior Xmas tree with excellent needle retention!) in a range of sizes. From 30 November you can wander round the yard and pick your perfect tree before heading into the Christmas Barn to get a load of decorations to bling it up. Check out the website for delivery areas. 



<a href="https://burylanefarmshop.co.uk/christmas/">Bury Lane Farm Shop</a>, Melbourn 



You can buy pre-cut trees from this lovely farm shop and garden centre just off the A10, and then spend the rest of the morning visiting the Christmas barn (which is festooned in thousands of twinkly lights, a display of moving reindeer and contains loads of decorations for your tree). Finish off with lunch in the café for the perfect tree picking morning out. 



<a href="https://www.facebook.com/millfieldorchard/">Millfield Orchard</a>, Haddenham, Ely



Flex those muscles because at Millfield you can dig up your own Christmas tree. In December they&#8217;re usually open at weekends for tree choosing (keep an eye on their Facebook page for the 2024 info to drop) &#8211; just mark your tree with a distinctive ribbon and then pick it up in December. The best news about digging your own is that you can then plant the tree in your garden after Xmas making them a lovely sustainable option.



<h4 class="wp-block-heading"><a href="https://warboyschristmastreecentre.com">Warboys Christmas Tree Centre</a>, Warboys</h4>



If you like choice this is the one for you &#8211; as one of the largest specialist tree retailers in East Anglia there are hundreds of sustainably farmed Christmas trees ranging from 4ft to 10ft tall to take your pick from. While you&#8217;re there go all out and pick up a hand made holly wreath, and some freshly cut English mistletoe. Open 9am – 6pm every day from 25 November to 20 December.

<a href="https://roughamestate.com/events/pick-your-own-christmas-tree/">Blackthorpe Barn</a>, Rougham near Bury St Edmunds 



Nowhere is quite as Christmassy as the gorgeous Blackthorpe Barn in December, and as well as amazing festive craft fairs and wreath workshops, you can bag a brilliant tree from the yard. The award-winning Garden Shop has had a brilliant festive makeover and Roots café is open for warming seasonal food too, so you can celebrate successful tree choosing with a hot chocolate and cake. They have a selection of Nordmann Firs and Norway Spruces in all sizes.



<h4 class="wp-block-heading"><a href="https://www.redhousechristmas.com/whatshere">Redhouse Christmas Barn</a>, Sternfield </h4>



Choose your Christmas tree and cover it in bling all in one fell swoop at this enchanting family-run Christmas barn near Saxmundham. You can’t do much better with your festive fir – these trees have graced the drawing room of 10 Downing Street, plus there are acres of fields to walk through to find your perfect tree. Afterwards you can visit the shop to stock up on gorgeous gifts and luxurious decorations.



<a href="https://www.elvedencourtyard.com/christmas">Elveden Courtyard</a>, near Thetford 



The courtyard is a lovely place to spend a festive themed morning and as well as decorations, a turkey, all your Christmas Day dinner trimmings and Christmas drinks, you can come away with a tree too. Pre-cut Norway Spruce, Nordmann Fir and Fraser Firs are available daily from 30 November until 23 December in the Walled Garden. The best bit? Newfoundland dogs will be on hand to tow your tree to your car for you in their tinsel festooned sleighs! There&#8217;s also a Christmas Craft Fair on 30 Nov and Santa&#8217;s Grotto to book into every weekend in December. 



<a href="https://www.wrenthamchristmastrees.com">Wrentham Christmas Trees</a>, Beccles 



Head to Field Farm, a family-run business with 40 years experience in festive trees, and wander through the firs to choose your ideal shape and size before it is cut fresh in front of you. There&#8217;s a choice of Norway Spruce and Nordmann Fir as well as Blue Spruce and Serbian Fir if you&#8217;re feeling exotic! They can deliver within 12 miles of Wrentham and are open from 22 Nov &#8211; 24 Dec.

This lovely farm shop grows their own Christmas trees &#8211; Nordmann Fir (non-drop), Blue Spruce (non-drop silver needles) and Norway Spruce (traditional) &#8211;&nbsp;and have done on the site for 20 years, so the quality is fab. They plant a tree for every one that is cut down and have experts on hand to help you pick a pre-cut tree or a container grown tree that you can plant afterwards. You&#8217;ll also be able to pick up a wreath, Christmas veg box, and tree decorations while you&#8217;re here. Trees from 27 November &#8211; make sure you book a slot though. 



<a href="https://www.hollowtrees.co.uk/2016/11/09/perfect-christmas-tree/">Hollow Trees Farm</a>, Semer



There&#8217;s a lot going on at Hollow Trees in December with their Fun with Santa event from 12 &#8211; 22 December as well as Christmas food shopping and boxes you can order, a festive farm trail, and of course Christmas trees. They stock pre-cut Nordmann Firs and Norway Spruces from 30cm to 4 metres (I&#8217;d love to see a car big enough to haul a tree that big home!). Pick up a wreath, some holly and mistletoe while you&#8217;re there too.
