If you’re into outdoor adventures, the Jaecoo 7 might just be your new best friend. Even the name hints at its spirit – Jaecoo blends the German word “jäger” (hunter) with the English term “cool.” The result? A car designed for both adventure and city life.



We got our hands on the Granite White Super Hybrid System Luxury model (£35,065) and took it out for a few hours of countryside cruising. And let’s just say, it didn’t disappoint.



Always keen to get behind the wheel of something fresh, we headed to the John Grose showroom in Ipswich to put the Jaecoo 7 through its paces. Here’s why we’re loving it&#8230;

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-look">THE LOOK</h2>



This SUV doesn’t just talk the talk — it’s built to handle just about anything. With intelligent 4WD, seven drive modes (including Off-Road, Sand, Eco, Normal, Sport, Snow, and Mud), and a generous 200mm ground clearance, it’s as versatile as it is stylish. Sleek touches like electric hidden door handles only add to its premium feel.



Now, confession time: this was my first time driving an automatic. I was a little hesitant at first, but the Jaecoo 7 made the transition seamless. It’s whisper-quiet, ultra-responsive, and smooth as silk. A light press on the accelerator and— whoosh — I was gliding along, so much so that I had to keep an eye on the speedometer (no gear shifts to remind me!).



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-drive">THE DRIVE</h2>



When I first saw the Jaecoo 7, I did wonder if I’d be driving something the size of a small bus (I’m 5’3” and usually zip around in a Golf Plus). But once inside, it felt surprisingly manageable. The driving position is spot-on, and spatial awareness is great — you forget you’re in a larger car. And speaking of size (not that it’s everything), those 19” aero-optimised aluminium wheels are a thing of beauty, balancing both form and function effortlessly.



And for those of us with small people to cart around, you&#8217;ll be pleased to know, the Jaecoo comes with 412 litres of boot space – definitely enough for all the kit you have to pack for a simple day trip out with the little ones.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-safety">SAFETY</h2>



I was most impressed with the safety aspects of this car. I felt planted, steady and at ease driving on A roads and country lanes. The Luxury trim includes a head-up display that can show all the relevant travel information, including speed, navigation and ADAS warnings.



Take control of your ride with the 14.8-inch touchscreen. Powered by the latest Snapdragon technology, it delivers a visually stunning, responsive and incredibly intuitive experience. Sometimes technology can be used for good and I particularly enjoyed the function that alerted you when you weren&#8217;t focussing on the road (it only needed to tell me once!)



I was a little surprised by the automatic lane assist function, which if I&#8217;m completely honest, felt a little strong, but again, I liked the safety element.

If you love a bit of tech wizardry in your wheels, the Jaecoo 7 is here to tick all your boxes – and then some. This isn’t just a car; it’s a rolling luxury lounge with a gadget list that would make James Bond envious.



Let’s talk lights. The LED headlights don’t just brighten the road ahead – they practically sculpt it in high definition. And those taillights? They’re not just there to signal a stop; they’re a ‘look-at-me’ light show with a futuristic full-width design that screams sophistication.



Then there’s the sound system. An 8-speaker SONY setup that turns the school run into a private gig and traffic jams into an acoustic experience. Whether you’re into guilty-pleasure pop or moody podcasts, it’ll sound *chef’s kiss* divine.

The seats? Oh, they’re good. Wrapped in plush synthetic leather, they’re electrically adjustable (goodbye, arm workout) and, if you opt for the Luxury trim, you get heating, ventilation and lumbar support – because your back deserves the VIP treatment.



Now, let’s talk about the real showstopper: the sunroof. A glorious 1.1-metre expanse of glass that floods the cabin with natural light, making even the Monday morning commute feel a little more like a scenic road trip. And yes, it opens, so you can let in a bit of breeze along with all that vitamin D.



To top it all off, the ambient lighting doesn’t just set the mood – it reads it. Pick a shade that matches your vibe or let it sync with your music for full sensory immersion. 



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-muddy-verdict">THE MUDDY VERDICT</h2>



Good for:&nbsp;Busy families who need plenty of space for the many bags they cart around each week or drivers looking for an electric car with a sportier vibe than some of the boxier SUVs, but for a more affordable price than a Range Rover for example.



Not for:&nbsp;Those who are easily startled by a little lane assistance!



The damage:&nbsp;There are three different models to choose from starting at a very reasonable £29,435 for the 2WD 1.6 petrol Deluxe Model, going up to £35,065 for the SHS petrol hybrid Luxury Model.
