<p>We visited this stunner of a farm shop last summer and enjoyed some of their award-winning ice cream in the pretty courtyard café. The afternoon tea looked sublime though, all homemade, seasonally-changing fare, including lovely little extras like homemade sausage rolls. Good luck leaving without a bag bursting at the seams with produce from the farm shop too! </p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><a href="https://lavenhambluetearooms.com">Lavenham Blue Vintage Tearoom</a>, Lavenham  </h3>



<p>There&#8217;s a super cute secret sun trap of a garden at Lavenham&#8217;s much-loved Lavenham Blue Vintage Tearoom and it&#8217;s the perfect place to devour a traditional afternoon tea in one of the most exquisite historical towns in England. If you love a proper tablecloth, doilies and tea out of vintage cups and saucers this is the al fresco afternoon tea spot for you. Owner Amanda also creates afternoon tea in a box that you can take home to your own garden or a nearby picnic spot if you prefer. </p>

In the summer months you can while away an idyllic afternoon in the hotel&#8217;s riverside garden, watching more energetic types punting past while you scoff scones, sandwiches and plates full of exquisite cakes. You need to book in advance and afternoon tea is only served from Thursdays &#8211; Sundays.   </p>

<p>Transport yourself to Provence at this beautiful country house hotel that offers afternoon tea under the grapevine-covered patio overlooking the swimming pool. You might feel like you&#8217;re in France, but the food is traditionally English &#8211; itsy-bitsy finger sandwiches, pillow soft scones with clotted cream and homemade cakes. </p>

<p>This historic former watermill just outside Cambridge serves delicate and delicious afternoon teas in the secluded gardens. The menu changes with the season, but if you find afternoon tea a little on the sweet side, you&#8217;ll love all the savoury extras here and the chance to have a cheese scone rather than a fruit one. </p>

<p>Served every afternoon between 3-5pm, afternoon tea here is an institution and in summer it&#8217;s extra special as you can enjoy it from the smart terrace overlooking the sloping lawns. Best of all there&#8217;s no need to book, so if you&#8217;re in the area and suddenly get a hankering for a scone, you can simply turn up and start scoffing! </p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><a href="http://www.peacockstearoom.co.uk/teamroom.htm">Peacocks</a>, Ely</h3>



<p>This charming tearoom is inside a gorgeous house in Ely overlooking the river. You&#8217;ll get a very warm welcome and the smell of freshly baked cakes just out the AGA are enough to make you swoon. In summer there are several tables outside the wisteria-covered brick beauty in a pretty wicket-fenced front garden. It&#8217;s all mismatched vintage china, homemade scones (including chocolate scones!) and cakes that Paul Hollywood would be proud of.  </p>
