Dough & Go at home kits
If you tried your hand at homemade pizzas during lockdown and were more than a little disappointed with your amateur efforts, fear not because Bury St Edmunds’s Wood & Smoke Kitchen have created at-home kits with the snappy name Dough & Go. The kits are delivered straight to your door and contain all you need to create fresh sourdough pizzas (Neapolitan style) – all you need is a frying pan and grill!
New food delivery service in Cambs
No idea what to cook tonight and frankly don’t have the time to shop after a busy day at work? You need Prepped in your life. It’s the brainchild of Simon, a long-suffering commuter, who wanted to have something healthy and easy to eat after work. At the moment their gorgeous healthy home cooked meals are delivered within a 5 mile radius of Cambridge and Saffron Walden, but plans are afoot to extend to Ely, Newmarket and Royston.
New vegan restaurant opens in Cambridge
Still going strong after veganuary or just enjoy delicious vegan food from time to time? Then you’ll be delighted to hear that there’s a new vegan restaurant in town with the ingenious name – VetoMeato! The restaurant has launched in partnership with Ta Bouche so you can find the delicious, meat-free street food down Market Passage and wash the eco-friendly food down with one of Ta Bouche’s cocktails.
Raffles quality Asian dining at home launched
Missing out on an Asian holiday this year and want a taste of their incredible cuisine to tide you over? Fortunately Lilian, the former catering manager of Singapore’s Raffles hotel, now lives near Bury and as well as offering cookery classes has now launched Dining@Home so you can enjoy hotel quality Asian food in Suffolk. You can even add a Singapore Sling to your order!
New Farmshop and cafe in Hildersham
Pear & Olive Scratch Kitchen (run by French chef Gael Lecolley) have opened a brand new farmshop and cafe onsite – The Pantry, which is open every day except Tuesday. You’ll find everything from fresh bread and cakes to fruit, veg and store cupboard ingredients and the cafe is a must visit for its delicious sandwiches, cakes and coffee.
Vegan restaurant relocating to station
Vegan restaurant Stem + Glory is reopening and has plans to move to a new larger site in Cambridge at 60 Station Road in the autumn. The restaurant is also running a click-and-collect delivery service from Thursday to Saturday from their current King Street premises.
New gelato shop opens in All Saints Passage
Jack van Praag, Cambridge’s favourite gelato maker is opening a second shop in the town. The original Jack’s gelato is on Bene’t Street, while the new shop will be joining gourmet greats like The Cambridge Cheese Company and Hill St. chocolate shop in All Saints Passage.
Parker’s Tavern launches new outside area on the Piece
Following the success of Parker’s on the Piece during lockdown (takeaway pizzas, drinks and ice creams) Parker’s Tavern have made their al fresco offering a little more permanent with eye-catching yellow deckchairs and smart tables so you can enjoy their summery snacks in style. There’s everything from their delicious pizzas and cocktails to afternoon tea and mouth-watering hors d’oeuvres.
Tuddenham Mill reveals a new Secret Garden
How’s this for a bit of al fresco Covid-friendly dining? A secret garden at gastronomic destination Tuddenham Mill! You can sit 2 metres apart in the beautiful wild meadow and enjoy a choice of gourmet boxes including firebreads, duck noodles or seafood linguine.
Cool Dine at Dome pods introduced at The Willow Tree, Bourn
There are magical and amazing initiatives coming out of lockdown and we love this romantic offering from Willow Tree, Bourn. There are three of these fantastic pods to book and you can enjoy a package deal including three courses, a drink on arrival and a post-meal coffee for £50 each. There’s also an afternoon tea package to choose from and The Willow Tree will be running some live outdoor music and comedy events this summer with only 60 tickets available per event.
