The Waterman Pub – Cambridge
Near to Midsummer Common and the river and ten minutes from the centre of town, a lovely family pub with great food and outside space.
Although there are no river views, The Waterman provides the perfect pit stop on a river walk/cycle or boat trip. The pub has a lovely friendly atmosphere, a proper boozer on the inside with a lovely old school bar (although recently and stylishly decorated), and quirky spaces outside. The garden area is partly covered garden and the potting shed provides a nice separate space either for overflow diners or as aprivate function space with its own mini bar. There are bright colours, blankets, heaters and even a huge screen showing major sporting events outside, but not in an intrusive way.
Take your seat and order your food and drink from the City Pubs app – and you will be amazed at how quickly your drinks come out. Food is consistently good: alovely selection of freshly made staples – pies, burgers, fish and chips, an excellent Ceasar salad and great sharing items like halloumi fries and nachos. The Sunday roasts are simply massive and yummy.
If you overindulged on the delicious food and drink, then fear not, there are eight boutique bedrooms, all funky, modern and comfy. Next door to the pub is also their own coffee shop, Number 30, with truly great coffee and delicious pastries. This place has got you covered.
