The Swan Lavenham

Historical splendour meets modern luxury at one of Suffolk’s most famous hotels in the picturesque and perfectly preserved Tudor wool town of Lavenham.

This luxe hotel, part of Suffolk’s The Hotel Folk, is right slap bang in the middle of Suffolk’s prettiest town – the medieval marvel that is Lavenham. The high street is lined with wonky, beamed Tudor houses in an array of bright colours with The Swan Hotel standing proud as the centrepiece of the village. The 45-bedroom hotel is made up of four 15th century houses and is an historical rabbit warren of corridors with delightfully uneven floors and tiny little doorways.

There’s a collection of snug lounges where you can enjoy a refined afternoon tea on a special occasion, and two restaurants – The laid-back Brasserie and the fine-dining Gallery housed in a spectacular Tudor banqueting hall.

A gorgeous spa, Weavers’ House Spa was added in 2015 with six treatment rooms, two relaxation rooms, and a stunning and tranquil garden with a vitality pool.

Dogs are welcome in some rooms and it’s a family-friendly hotel, but we love it for a romantic special occasion break, where you can enjoy the historical splendour of Suffolk’s most beautiful village with all the mod cons you desire in a luxury stay.
