The Salthouse is a modern and super funky boutique hotel with simply stunning views of the Neptune marina. The hotel is right on harbour so you can sit sipping your champers and admiring those swaying masts and stunning Suffolk skies to your heart’s content. Inside the hotel you will find warm, modern interiors, with decadent design touches (a Vivienne Westwood rug no less), and quirky art, sculptures, and curiosities all around, collected by owners Robert and Claire, giving this hotel not just a chic feel but heaps of personality too.

The hotel is housed in a converted Victorian warehouse, an ultra-cool red-brick building that has undertones of a New York hotel. All 70 rooms have an individual design, and we love the look of the copper roll-top baths in the Marina suites, or the Penthouse (uh, yes please!) with its floor-to-ceiling windows and so you can really make the most of that vista.

The Salthouse has a lovely relaxed vibe, and the waterside restaurant -Eaterie – with seating inside and out, is the perfect place to enjoy a leisurely lunch, afternoon tea, or delightful dinner looking out at the bobbling boats. The menu is a celebration of local produce all perfectly put together by the award-winning chef Luke Bailey.

Your ten minutes from the shops, and you’re also ideally situated to explore the Suffolk coast from Ipswich too, but we think once you’re in this chilled out and contemporary hotel, you won’t want to go far.
