The Pint Shop, Cambridge
Hugely popular, hip bar and restaurant, with an amazing selection of beer and gin and memorable, tasty menu.
The Pint Shop is a hip and happening bar and restaurant that never disappoints. There is a blackboard of dozens of beers and ales, plus over 100 gins on offer – oh yes! Amalfi orange is a fave. Reviewed by all the national press, this a locals haunt and a destination place that tourists who have done their homework seek out.
The bar is light and bright, usually buzzing with drinkers, plus they serve amazing scotch eggs (and chips with tangy curry sauce) and bar meals. There is a garden at the back with heaters and a covered area. Inside the decor is modern and funky with vivid colours and cool art. They have added dividers since Covid times, but they are not too intrusive.
The restaurant menu always has seasonal dishes that you will want to order again -for example, the crispy harissa lamb spring rolls starter is a must-order. For lunches chose from flatbreads with perfectly spiced fillings or the brilliant burger. Equally, you can go more upmarket and have a steak – a range of cuts and sauces – we love the flat iron steak with Bearnaise sauce – to die for. The Sunday roasts are another must-try. It is great for families, couples or groups of mates – a perfect place for a long lunch or dinner with friends, casual dining at its best.
