Poet’s House

Luxury boutique hotel a stone’s throw away from Ely Catherdral

A short five minutes walk from the city centre Poet’s House is a luxurious hotel housed in a grade II listed building that was once home to local author and poet, Sybil Marshall. Common areas are beautifully plush and comfortable, with armchairs you can lose yourself in with a good book.

The 21 bedrooms are all luxurious suites with period features and lovely views of the famous Ely Cathedral ‘the ship of the fens’ which is just 100 yards away and is one of the seven Medieval wonders of the world. Soak in a copper bathtub or rinse off in a waterfall shower then don your fluffy robe and collapse into your king-size bed replete with Egyptian cotton sheets for a nap before dinner. Can we stay forever?

The restaurant is regularly described by diners as excellent and the service exemplary. This is a hotel that knows a thing or two about good food and delicious drinks whether you are having a cocktail, afternoon tea or posh dinner. Currently offering a lovely garden menu choose from sharing platters, a classic club sandwich or if you feeling peckish share a whole marinated roast chicken with slaw and sides. Yum!

Ely has a lot to offer with lovely river and fen walks, food stalls and markets, cafes and tea shops, but you may not want to leave this lovely, relaxing hotel for long.
