Festival of Sport, Holkham
Taking place on the 13 - 15 August, the Festival of Sport allows children to discover or develop their love of sport with the help of expert coaches and sporting legends. Expect fun, fitness, and no one left on the bench.
What better way for kids to spend a weekend than tearing about in the gorgeous grounds of the Holkham Estate trying out new sports and getting tips from sporting heroes? The Festival of Sport is a whirlwind weekend where children aged 5 to 17 can discover or develop their love of sport. The event runs on 13 – 15 August and was created by Rugby greats Will Greenwood and Austin Healey, and boasts the most sporting legends gathered in one place outside of the Olympics — not your standard five-a-side on a cold Sunday morning. Expect big names like Olympic gold medallist hockey player Alex Danson, and TV naturalist and television presenter Steve Backshall, amongst many others.
Thoughtfully organised to be Covid safe, there are various camping and glamping options in the 25,000 acres of Holkham Estate, with a huge variety of delicious food and drink available to buy on site. Day visitors are welcome, but camping on site allows you to wake up in the beautiful park and jump right into the day’s events: a range of games, and activities like trampolining and climbing, as well as challenges for adults too. The weekend promises to be a welcome boost to social and physical wellbeing after months of sporting restriction.
Key sports on offer include rugby, netball, cricket, tennis, hockey, rowing, football, gymnastics, and athletics. Knowing that not every child gets involved in the same way, the festival will celebrate different approaches to help engage every family.
