Cambridge Country Cottages, Horningsea

A chic and stylish countryside retreat a few miles from the centre of Cambridge.

Cambridge Country Cottages offer two romantic retreats in a courtyard setting in the grounds of Eye Hall – once owned by Henry VIII.

The stylish renovation of the old diary has created two cottages that offer a luxurious escape nestled within 23 acres of private parkland. The Old Diary and Buttery have been lovingly created with reclaimed timbers, brick floors and beautiful vintage finds mixed with contemporary fittings.  There are drench showers with a bath also in The Dairy, Jo Malone treats, an honesty bar for your well-deserved G&T, a modern-four poster bed, silk duvets on top-end mattresses and upcycled pieces which create a beautifully relaxing space.  Woodburners have logs stacked for guests to burn and Fiona will leave you a brimming hamper. They grow their own veg at Eye Hall which you can buy along with homemade marmalade and eggs from the hens.  Guests can use the heated pool (by request) and there are soon to be gardening workshops in the unusual bronze greenhouse, so if you’re keen, do arrange to visit the beautiful garden: roses, yew tree walk, croquet lawn and willow sculptures.

These cottages offer a luxurious rural retreat if you’re after some well-earned R&R. Attending an event in Cambridge or Newmarket they make a stylish alternative to a hotel.
