14 Christmas wreath workshops to book now

Deck your door with boughs of holly! These local festive craft classes are hugely popular so, quick, book now!

What is it about the unstoppable rise of Christmas wreath-making? Is it even Christmas if you haven’t hand made a wreath like a pro florist and displayed it on the door for the entire village to admire and compliment you on?

If you fancy joining all the would-be Kirstie Allsopps and having a crack at creating your own, we aren’t exactly short on Christmas wreath workshops in Suffolk & Cambs with lots springing up over the next few weeks. But be quick to book as tickets are selling like hot mince pies. Secateurs at the ready, let’s go!

1. Festive wreath-making at The Packhorse Inn, Moulton, 10 December, £75

Florist Amelia Cornish will be at one of our favourite pubs on the 10 December showing you how to transform some foliage and ribbons into a glorious festive wreath. It’s a morning session, starting at 10am and after all your hard work you can enjoy a Christmassy lunch.

2. Wild Stems at Provenance Kitchen, 27 Nov and 4 Dec 2019, £45

Have you been to Provenance Kitchen yet? NO? You’d better read my review here then and then get yourself booked in for a morning’s wreath making with the talented Wild Stems, where you’ll learn how to make a wreath base and dress it using foliage, herbs, dried flowers, cones, catkins, branches, berries and all other manner of natural, seasonal and fragrant ingredients. And the best bit? Provenance Kitchen will be providing delicious festive refreshments.

3. Festive Floristry, Sacrewell Farm, 14 December, £55 

Family favourite Scarewell Farm have enlisted Rebecca from The Botanical Flower Studio to show you how to deck your door in locally-sourced seasonal, sustainable style. So you’ll be using holly and ivy sourced from around Sacrewell as part of your design. We approve! Oh and the ticket includes all materials, access to Sacrewell for the day and festive nibbles.

4. Festive wreath-making with cocktails or afternoon tea, 30 November, Northgate Hotel, Bury St Edmunds, £65 or £75

Now this is a good idea – wreath-making with florist Augusta Hope with a side order of cocktails or afternoon tea (cocktails for me please!). At the beautifully refurbished Northgate Hotel in Bury you can get your craft on with inventive cocktails to keep your artistic juices flowing or afternoon tea is you’re feeling peckish. All the materials are provided, so you just have to turn up with your green fingers.

5. Feather & Ferns wreath making workshop, 7 Crown Street, St Ives, 4 December, £48

We love the glorious floral displays this clever Cambridge-based florist, Becky, puts together so you’ll be in for a treat learning from her when it comes to making a standout wreath. This will be a lovely evening to gather up your girls to enjoy drinks as a festive get together. All materials are included as well as mulled wine and mince pies aplenty! Christmas cocktails are also available to buy from Gather, Grow and Connect.

6. Christmas wreath-making with Jane Morris from Histon Holly, Spoilt Rotten Beads, Haddenham, 29 Nov, £40

Histon Holly specialise in running Christmas Wreath workshops so you know you’re in for a treat at this one. The class includes all the materials and you’ll learn the art of making, designing and – as its hosted at Spoilt Rotten Beads – adding sparkle and texture with beads. Coffee, tea and mince pies provided.
This class includes all materials – you will learn how to securely attach greenery to an oasis wreath base, how to balance your design and mix in beads to add sparkle and texture.

7. Wreath workshop with Cambridge Flower School, Scotsdales, Great Shelford, 5 Dec, £65

8. Wreath Making with Florist Emily Watson, Island Hall, Godmanchester, 23 Nov, £80

It’s on the pricier end of the wreath workshop scale, but that’s because this is a prosecco and canapé-fuelled class! Florist Emily Watson of Emily Tallulah is leading the traditional moss-based wreath workshop at the sublime riverside Island Hall, in the atmospheric, historic, stone flagged hall, which should make for a delightfully festive atmosphere. While you’re picking up tips and making your masterpiece Prosecco and scrumptious canapés will be doing the rounds.

9. Christmas wreath workshop, Inspire Suffolk, Ipswich, 6 Dec, £45

Young persons charity Inspire Suffolk are getting in on the wreath-making craze but with a charitable slant. Not only will you leave with a gorgeous wreath helped by Emma from Emma’s Florists and a tummy full of festive food and drink, but you’ll also by helping raise money for a great cause.

10. Wreath workshop, Ickworth House, Suffolk, 20, 22 and 23 Nov, £30

The National Trust know a thing or two about adorning beautiful doors and this workshop will be a real treat as you join the Outdoors Team to find greenery from the Ickworth Estate and watch a demo, before you crack out the secateurs and get let loose on your own Christmas creation.

11. Creative Winter Workshops, Blackthorpe Barn, Suffolk, 5, 10, 12, 17, 20, 21 Dec, £45

Blackthorpe Barn is Christmas! You can’t go through the season without a visit to this winter wonderland, so why not book yourself into the festive barn for a workshop while you’re perusing all the gorgeous decorations or picking up your Christmas tree? Trudi Edmunds is running them and the price includes: natural holly, pine sprigs & cones foraged from the estate, ribbon, Christmas embellishments, twig rings & wire, plus you can bring along anything you particularly want to have on your wreath. If it’s not lashing down with rain, foraging for greenery outside the barn will form part of the workshop experience too.

12. Wreath workshop, Moat Farm Flowers, Suffolk, 3, 9 and 13 Dec, £55

This mince pie-fuelled workshop is run by the gorgeous Suffolk flower farm Moat Farm Flowers, so you’re in safe hands for creating your masterpiece.

13. Wreath making with Amy Curtis, Jimmy’s Farm and Wildlife Park, Suffolk, 29 Nov, 6 & 13 Dec, £55 – £65

Any excuse to go to Jimmy’s Farm! And this is an excellent reason – a wreath making class with award-winning local florist Amy Curtis. There are morning sessions where you will make a luxury wreath out of mixed seasonal foliage from the farm, ribbons and decorations, followed by a lunch of Jimmy’s classic Essex sausage and mash and a hot drink. The afternoon sessions are for making a table centre piece and festive garland, while enjoying a home made mince pie and a hot drink. Count me in for the full day!

14. Wreath making with The Southwold Flower Company, 23 and 29 Nov, 3 and 21 Dec, £45 – £55, Reydon and Darsham 

The lovely ladies at The Southwold Flower Company are running multiple workshops in Nov and Dec. If you’ve already nailed your wreath there’s also a Christmas table workshop on the 21st, so you can really wow your guests with your creativity.

15. Christmas wreath workshops, The Three Hills, Bartlow, 16 December, £55

Make a wreath in the gorgeous and cosy surroundings of beautifully refurbished 17th century country inn, The Three Hills at Bartlow. The price includes the materials for the wreath with guidance from The Little Wedding Shed, coffee/ tea, mulled wine and mince pies. The workshop starts at 10am until about 1pm – what a lovely way to spend the morning.
