Local booze bonanza
It’s not that we’re a boozy lot in Suffolk & Cambs, but we do seem to have more than our fair share of quality wine/beer/lager/gin producers. Here’s our pick of the bunch. Cheers!
Wyken Moonshine
This sparkling mix of Pinot Noir and Auxerrois grapes produced at Suffolk’s finest vineyard, Wyken, is summer in a bottle. White wine and a rosé also available.
£24.95
Pinkster Gin
Produced in Cambridgeshire, drunk throughout the UK. Made with raspberries, it’s deliciously smooth with a hint of fruit – just add a raspberry, mint and tonic to serve.
£35
Mallyon Sparkling Rosé
Cambridgeshire-based Chilford Hall vineyard’s prettiest drink, with hints of fresh strawberries and citrus overtones. Hic!
£21.95
Ely Gin
Flavoured gins and vodkas (rhubarb, grapefruit, sloe, raspberry, lemon, chocolate) made from fresh, organic ingredients? Err yes please! Pick up one in every flavour.
From £6
Aspall Premier Cru Cyder
Award-winning sparkling cider that’s dry and floral and totally moreish. Aspall’s been creating cider in Suffolk for more than 300 years, so it’s little wonder this is world-class stuff.
£16
Dry-Hopped Lager
Produced near Ipswich, Calvors Brewery’s lovely new light, crisp lager is so good on a hot day, we’re not surprised it flies off the shelves.
£19.50 (for twelve)
Suffolk Dry Gin
Double distilled and infused with 10 botanicals, including juniper, coriander and cinnamon, this is the shizzle when it comes to a G&T and the bottle’s a looker too.
£20
Adnams x L.A Brewery
Want the bubbles but not the hangover? We’re very into this new collaboration, the results of which are a Suffolk blush kombucha that’s the summery, fruity, drink of our dreams. They suggest it’s great paired with chicken or fish, we also like it paired with sunshine and friends.
