Award winner alert!

We’ve been road-testing Elemental Herbology, the Beauty Shortlist Award winners. The verdict - we want the lot!

The Elemental Herbology ethical and plant-based skincare range has been in existence now for a number of years but until fairly recently they’ve mainly been a spa based product. They’re a London company but I’ve been trialling them for a few months and I’ve decided to bring them up the A1. No one’s yet to stock them in Muddy Cambs as of yet (*nod to any spas out there*) but don’t let that put you off as you can buy them from their website.

Elemental Herbology

In the super competitive beauty world it’s hard to stand out but Elemental Herbolology did, big time, winning multiple categories in this year’s Beauty Shortlist Awards and we want the whole goddam range.  They stacked up trophies for; Best Natural/Organic Skincare Brand – UK, Best Cleanser, Best Skincare Product For Acne, Best Day Moisturiser With Inbuilt SPF, Best Night Cream and Best Intensive Therapy Hand Cream.

Their skincare ranges are based around traditional Chinese medicine and the Five Element Theory – wood, fire, earth, metal and water and a balance of all the elements is needed depending on skin type, environmental factors, lifestyle and the seasons. The lid of the packaging is colour-coded around these elements – gold is related to the earth, purple to water, burgundy to metal, blue to fire and teal to wood (last two are very similar and quite difficult to tell apart). The Elemental Herbology products are 100% free from synthetic fragrance, artificial colour, sulphates, paraben preservatives and mineral oils.

As you always photograph your face creams on a sheepskin rug!

So this is the little lot that I’ve been plastering on morning and night for the past four months. Scent is a big deal for me in the face products that I use, it’s a personal thing and some prefer an unscented range but I need to get a whiff of someting luxurious and natural.  Each of the products have a unique smell that comes from an exotic blend of essential oils and other botanical ingredients.

Elemental Herbology

Hydration is a buzz word for me as my skin feels very dry at this time of year – probably down to the bottle of wine I quaff a night, and both the Vital Glow overnight moisturiser and Cell Plumping day cream (both award winners) definitely improved my skin and gave it a glow. I’ve also religiously been applying a few drops of the Cell Nourish (another award winter) morning and night – this comes in a pipette so feels rather scientific. The proof – I haven’t always been wearing a tinted moisturiser to cover imperfections and lift my skin tone on the school run this summer, but instead have flicked a flash of bronzer followed by mascara and lippy. It’s been quite a few years since I’ve gone semi-nude.

Elemental Herbology

I’m also seeing excellent results from the Eye Elixir and the Harmonising Cleanse.

The products are fairly pricey if I’m being honest but the big BUT is that they do last a long time. The cleanser starts at £29 and the Vital Glow is at the top end coming in at £57. I’ve been using the products for four months now and am still just over half way through. They glide over the skin in a smooth way that makes a little goes a long way and quite how long I have been using them has impressed me.

Elemental Herbology

The Elemental Herbology website is really helpful – there’s a load of very detailed advice on exactly what’s in each product and what it’s good for. Some have short video clips on how to apply and also what products work well alongside them. The blog is also useful, full of beauty and wellbeing tips and they have an online consultation which helps ascertain which ‘element’ you are and the skincare that would suit your lifestyle. It’s fairly rudimentary but at the same time helps to focus on your lifestyle and how the Elemental Herbology range can help. I came out as ‘wood’ and one suggestion is the Wood Rejuvenation Bath & Body Oil, which has been created for the workaholic to help relieve aches and pains, clear your mind and nourish skin – that pretty much sums me up! Father Christmas I hope you’re listening.

Elemental Herbology

If you’re looking for high end products, that smell darn good and that work around your lifestyle and environment then this brand are worth a gander. Much of the collection come in their travel size packaging (£7.50 each), which is great for the hols but also for trying a cream out for the first time.
